Craftsmanship has been among Francesco de Gregorio’s innate inclinations since childhood. His grandfather could do virtually anything with his hands, and Francesco liked to watch him build chairs or cast irons, knowing how to use his art of “make do” to create useful things for everyday life. When he was fifteen, he started learning to play the guitar and taught himself. At the age of eighteen, with the same passion, he moved to guitar building with an extraordinary passion. Francesco’s idea of a great instrument follows the original path of the great masters of the modern guitar. He pursues a pure, never forced sound: the sound quickly produced by a light construction, with respect for wood and its natural fragility. When building his instruments, he looks for aesthetic beauty and suitable taste in different combinations.

The Francesco de Gregorio guitar for the 2023 Roma Expo Guitar, is a shining example of high-quality guitar craftsmanship. Francesco has genuinely excelled with this instrument, demonstrating his deep commitment and impressive skill. One of the standout features of this guitar is the carved headstock. This detail shows Francesco’s artistic flair and passion for his work, taking this guitar from a simple instrument to a work of art. The guitar is made from a spruce soundboard and Indian rosewood for the back and sides. These materials were carefully chosen for their quality, and the rosette and bindings add a tasteful decorative touch. This choice of materials and decoration adds to the overall beauty of the guitar. But the guitar isn’t just about looks. It has a fantastic sound too. The F main resonance gives the guitar a deep and dark bass sound, while the trebles are clear and song-like. This balance between the bass and treble gives the guitar a beautiful and harmonious sound. In conclusion, the Francesco de Gregorio guitar made for the 2023 Roma Expo Guitar shows the peak of what’s possible in guitar making. It combines craftsmanship, artistry, and great sound into one attractive package.
