Builder’s story
Jaime Ribot was a luthier in Barcelona at the beginning of the 20th century, who shared a workshop with Bautista Alcañiz on Calle Ancha until 1920. In addition to classical and flamenco guitars, he also made bandurrias.
Born in Valencia, Jaime Ribot worked in Barcelona at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. For many years he shared a workshop with Bautista Alcañiz on Calle Ancha until 1920.
In addition to classical and flamenco guitars, he also played bandurrias. A contemporary of the construction of Torres guitars in Andalusia, this guitar represents a great example of the early Catalan school (which would eventually include manufacturers such as García, Simplicio, Coll and Fleta).
Miguel Llobet was known to be a fan of this maker and regularly played on one of their instruments. Emilio Pujol and Domingo Prat also played Ribot&Alcañiz guitars.
