This is an amazing guitar, made during the “golden era” of Ignacio Fleta’s cedar period. It was owned by Lawrence Long. Best known for his “Serenade for Guitar”, Lawrence (Larry) was probably the most prolific composer for the classical guitar to have ever lived.
This guitar has been admired and played by many of the great artists of our time, since Larry was friends with most of them, and hosted many of them in his home at various times over the last 50 years. Segovia, the Romeros, Lily Afshar, Ana Vidovic, Tommy Emannuel, Richard Smith, Mason Williams, Muriel Anderson, Jason Vieaux, William Kanengiser, etc.—they all knew Larry, and many of them have played this particular guitar.
This Fleta is in original condition, other than the cedar top being refinished (French polish), and there has [likely?] been a bone bridge or nut piece replacement at some point through the years. Some of the bone tuner spindles have normal minor cracks due to age, and there is some finish thinning present in a couple areas (see pictures).
This is a fine instrument, serial number 461.
NO SCAMMERS: I know all your tricks so don’t waste my time. Legitimately interested serious buyers will be treated with respect and courtesy.
Questions are welcome. If you are genuinely interested in purchasing, you may come to East Tennessee and we can set up a time for you to inspect and play the guitar.
I am also willing to ship if necessary, but I’m sure most people interested in a guitar of this caliber would prefer an in-person deal.
