Boaz Elkayam — concert guitar “Elena”

I decided to sell, perhaps, the most exotic instrument of my collection —  the guitar of the unique Israeli luthier Boaz Elkayam.

Soundboard — Giant sequoia.

Back & sides — Brazilian rosewood.

Fingerboard — African ebony. Fingerboard made from complete piece of ebony.

Scale 650 mm.

“Simplicio” relocated sound hole.

This beauty was build in 2012 by my order, and is a unique combination of different ideas, both constructional and performing. This is really an exquisite instrument in sounding, design, and materials.

The soundboard of American sequoia, with a split sound hole offset to the neck. This is the embodiment of the idea of ​​Francisco Simplicio, which he showed the world in the twenties of the 20th century. This is done to increase the useful vibrating area of ​​the top, which gives basses greater depth and volume, and extends the timbre of all registers.

The back and sides are made from rare Brazilian rosewood. An additional sound hole is made on the side (soundport).

The neck is entirely made of African ebony (black) wood. It is not varnished, but ideally polished. This is done for the comfort of the left hand thumb.

The armrest for the right hand is made by an integral piece from the Brazilian rosewood. And this is the most comfortable armrest I’ve ever tried.

For more easy access to the top positions, (there are 22 frets) without losing the internal capacity of the guitar, a miniature and convenient cutaway has been made.

Without exaggeration, the unique richness and diversity of the timbre, the amazing duration of notes (sustain) in the upper register, 22 frets, unique sound, exotic look, incredible playing comfort, the best and rare materials — this guitar is a true exclusive for both performers and collectors.
